General Assistance

The Case Committee considers applications for general assistance from eligible applicants.  

 Although our grants are often quite small, they frequently make a substantial difference to the person involved.   

 PAG is able to help in a number of ways, for example by giving: 

  • a one-off monetary gift to assist with living expenses 
  • a contribution towards essential household furniture, including white goods 
  • assistance with children's school uniform costs, books and equipment, or extra tuition costs.  
  • help to buy essential clothing 
  • assistance towards the cost of essential repairs to the home that relate to safety, security and/or independent living in your home 
  • a contribution towards care home fees in partnership with other charities 

Criteria

If you have a postgraduate degree level qualification or the equivalent level qualification (level 7 on the education framework), you may apply for a grant/gift if you fulfil the following criteria. You may also be eligible through your spouse/ partner if they fulfil the below criteria:

  • Are aged over 18 years
  • Are resident in the UK
  • Have already applied to your own occupational benevolent fund (if applicable), and be able to demonstrate evidence of this
  • Have less than £6,000 in savings if you are under pension credit age and less than £10,000 if over pension credit age.
  • Have claimed, or are in the process of claiming, all benefits to which you are entitled.


Children’s Education Assistance


PAG can help with small grants/gifts towards your children’s education, if they are under 18 years of age and in full time education, with:


  • the cost of school uniforms
  • books, stationery, school equipment or travel costs
  • extra tuition fees


Criteria


If you have a postgraduate degree level qualification or the equivalent level qualification (level 7 on the education framework), you may apply for a grant/gift to help with your general , if you fulfil the following criteria:


  • Are aged over 18 years
  • Are resident in the UK
  • Have already applied to your own occupational benevolent fund (if applicable), and be able to demonstrate evidence of this
  • Have less than £6,000 in savings if you are under pension credit age and less than £10,000 if over pension credit age.
  • Have claimed, or are in the process of claiming, all benefits to which you are entitled.



Further Education Assistance

The Education Committee consider applications for further education costs from eligible applicants. 

 We may be able to help students with small grants, usually between £300 and £500. We can contribute towards: 

  • course fees 
  • other related course expenses such as stationery, text books, production of thesis 
  • course travel expenses in some circumstances, for example work or research placements 
  • general living expenses 

 We advise students to seek additional funding from other sources as well as applying to us. You must supply an original academic reference from your current academic institution with your application.  

 Please note that we are unable to assist with grants towards the following; 

  • student sponsorships 
  • study abroad 
  • ordination courses  
  • intercalated years or medical elective periods 


Criteria


If you have a degree level qualification or the equivalent level qualification (level 6 on the education framework), you may apply for a grant to help with your further education. For us to consider your application, you must fulfil the following essential criteria:


  • You must already have completed at least one term on the course for which you are applying to us for financial assistance
  • You must already have funding in place. We will only consider helping you if your planned funding has broken down due to circumstances beyond your control after your course has started.
  • Are aged over 18 years
  • Are resident in the UK
  • Have already applied to your own occupational benevolent fund (if applicable), and be able to demonstrate evidence of this
  • Have less than £6,000 in savings if you are under pension credit age and less than £10,000 if over pension credit age.
  • Have claimed, or are in the process of claiming, all benefits to which you are entitled.
